Trying out new software to create web pages

There are a 101 applications to build a website.. which one is the best.. like buying a car.. which one is the best for the $$$.. in the end do we rationally make the decision, or is it like most decisions.. it just feels right.. in my soul that this is the one.. so it is with software development..only there are dead-ends, that anything anyone every dreams about can be included in a website.. oh if not for the pain of trial and error.. some things conceived as simple are not possible with some software.. and what about the learning.. where has it gone.. probably re-arisen in the newest webpage.. and so it goes..

EARCOS conference in KK

Great conference.. two days in AP Calculus, then 3 days of technology and math sessions.. Met Ron Lancaster and his sliding ladder with all the variations,and a hint of the pictures that he uses and disects the HIdden math.. Jeff Utecht was the tech. guru who found ways to demonstrate the power of the community and also inject his philosophy about tech.. and the classroom.. powerful stuff inthe right hands..

Just read the blogs of all the students and all are faithfully adding posts to their blog.. next we need to discover what else we can do using the blog.. some students have already added pictures, one has included some audio.. maybe next it will be adding a video.. I would like everyone to add their picture.. I have one outstanding problem.. one blog has Chinese labels that need to be converted to English..

Using the blogger.

I want the students to have their own blog and add their comments to the blog instead of writing in a journal. One benefit is that I don't have to manage their journals but unfortunately I dont get to see their writing style and the manner that they use the page. This is a test for me to see which is better... I posted this entry.. and then viewed again, just to make sure all was fine, one problem I see is that I have Chinese as my default for the dashboard??.. don't know whatelse to call it..
Another benefit is that the student could add/edit blogs at home.. maybe not a benefit..
I have also learned how to edit the blog.. (remember to publish post)

First day with the MS - Basics class

17 students in the class, wide range of skill levels and all are willing to learn. It should be fun.
